COME CELEBRATE WITH US THE FILIPINO PEOPLE’S STRUGGLE!

BAYAN-CANADA IN TORONTO is pleased to invite you to a People’s Festival celebrating the Filipino people’s movement as it struggles for a better future for the Filipino people.

On July 28, the bogus President of the Republic of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, will be delivering her fantastical state of the nation address to the Philippine Congress. She will stand there before a body that is overwhelmingly made up of ill-gotten millionaires to weave a mendacious tale of advancement for the Filipino people. Ever mindful of the largesse out of Macapagal Arroyo’s schemes to cling to the throne, the Philippine Congress will sycophantically grunt as their minds wander off to thoughts of future pork barrel.

The Filipino people, however, will know the palpable truth through the ache of their growling stomachs, and the silent emptiness of another loved one in strange foreign lands just so the family might survive another day.

It is this profound truth that animates the Filipino people to act in history to change their society. The choice is simple and increasingly clear: To do nothing, to cower and hide as each year is worse than what has gone by; or, to dare to struggle, to scale any peak, so that the future will be bright.

Let us speak, rhyme, sing, and dance truth to power on the authentic state of the Filipino nation.#
